Over 7,000 nurses to be regularised, says CM aide

LAHORE: Chairman Chief Minister’s Taskforce on Spurious Drugs, Dr Saeed Elahi, said the Punjab chief minister had decided to regularise more than 7,000 nurses working on contract and the decision would be implemented soon.

Taking to journalists on an Iftar dinner on Thursday, Dr. Saeed Elahi said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Sharif had regularised more than 4,000 medical officers and 2,000 specialist doctors. He said the Punjab chief minister was committed to providing medical facilities on the doorstep of the people without any discrimination between the rich and the poor. Presently, a free dialysis facility is being provided to kidney patients at 44 dialysis centers besides medicines and test facilities are also available free to indoor patients in addition to emergency, he added.

Dr Saeed Elahi said that on the instructions of the Punjab chief minister, recommendations of the committee for the improvement of the service structure of paramedical staff and the provision of incentives to them will be implemented.

He said that a Healthcare Commission was being set up for removing bottlenecks in the health system and reforming it on modern lines besides special attention was being paid to the health of mother and child. Link...
