Accused granted bail in Abdul Qadir case

ADDITIONAL District and Sessions Judge Muzaffar Ali Khan Saturday granted pre-arrest bail to Syed Sibtul Hassan advocate Gillani till September 19 in a case of issuing life threats to former cricketer Abdul Qadir and his son.

The case was registered with the Mustafabad Police Station on the complaint of Abdul Qadir’s son Salman Qadir under sections 386, 506 and 500. Salman accused Syed Sibtul Hassan Gillani advocate and his friend Liaqat had been occupying his house for last two years and they were hurling life threats to him.

During the proceedings, when Salman Qadir told the court that Sibtul Hassan Gillani was supporting his friend Liaqat in occupying the house, the lawyers present in the court became infuriated and tried to thrash Salman. After this, the police security, present outside the court, came and took Salman outside the court.

Meanwhile, the district and sessions court on Saturday released, on surety bound of Rs.200,000, the accused who was arrested on the complaint of former test cricketer Abdul Qadir Khan’s son on the charges of harassing and intimidating his father. Earlier, a habeas corpus petition was moved before the district and session court by Musawir Hussain alleging that Mustafa Abad police had been keeping his friend Liaqat in their illegal custody for last two days.

The court directed in-charge investigation officer of Mustafa Abad police station to produce accused Liaqat before the court.

On Saturday hearing, the investigation officer produced Liaqat before the court along with his case record. He told the court that former cricketer Abdul Qadir’s son Salman Qadir had lodged an FIR accused Liaqat under sections 386, 506 and 500 with Mustafa Abad police station after which he arrested the accused Liaqat.

Complainant Salman Qadir told the court that Liaqat and his friend Advocate Syed Mehmood ul Hassan Gillani had been living in his house for last two years without paying the house rent. He stated that whenever he asked Liaqat for house rent he simply refused and gave life threats to him after which he lodged a case against him.

Later, the court after hearing the arguments from both sides released the accused on bail and directed him to join the investigation with Mustafa Abad police station.
