SRINAGAR (IHK): In occupied Kashmir, Friday, the Jumatul Wida will be observed as Kashmir and Qudus Day to remind the international community that it had the obligation to provide people their inalienable right to self-determination, KMS reported on Wednesday.
Call for the observation of the Day has been given by the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani.
People have been asked to hold demonstrations in favour of Kashmir’s liberation from Indian bondage.
The spokesman of Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed concern over the continued house arrest of senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and the illegal detention of Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Mohammad Salim Nunnaji.
Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, Chris Bryant in a letter addressed to Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl said that the UK remained concerned over reports of human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.
In Geneva, addressing a seminar, the Executive Director of the Kashmir Institute of International Relations, Sardar Amjad Yousuf said, the recent package announced by the government of Pakistan for Gilgit Baltistan has met the long-standing demands of the people of these areas. Link...
