Jennifer Aniston waves to fans at the premiere of Love Happens, which opens Friday.
About the film:Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston star in the romantic drama, which opens Friday. It centers around Burke (Eckhart), a self-help author, and Eloise (Aniston), a flower shop owner who meet in Seattle while Burke is in town giving a lecture. Both characters struggle with the hurt of love and loss and realize that they need to let go of the past in order to move on.
Guest list: From the film: Eckhart, Aniston, Dan Fogler and writer and director Brandon Camp.
Star power: Though light on celebrities, the Aniston factor alone brought out hundreds of screaming fans who almost lost their minds when she walked across the street to crowd surf. Aniston, who turned 40 this year, says that her whole family was there for her birthday party, and the best thing about it was that "nobody threw anything at anybody!"
All about Aniston: So is love happening for Aniston, who has been seen dining with Gerard Butler, a co-star in her upcoming The Bounty? She's not saying. When asked what parallels she could make between her film's title and her real life, she replied "Oh, let's not talk about that," to a CNN reporter. Aniston is, however, planning on taking a much-needed break after promoting this film. She says she's going to take off on some adventure vacation and not work again until next year. "I don't know yet! I've got to figure it out," she chirps as she moves down the red carpet.
Everything Eckhart: Eckhart confesses the real reason he wanted to be in Love Happens: "As an actor I really got to play all parts. It's a love story. It's about grief and healing. It's a great actor's exercise. Plus, OK, I got to kiss Jennifer Aniston. That's really what it's all about. Who's playing the girl?" So is Eckhart the advice-giver in his circle of friends? Not so much, he says. "I like to empower the person to come up with the solution themselves. Everybody knows the answer to the problem, but really it's just listening so that they can talk themselves into the solution and hear it and have that experience. I really try to do that. So I don't try to give advice too much."
Director's notes: Says director Camp: "It's not your traditional romantic comedy. They don't get together the way you'd expect them to. When we were making the film, I purposefully kept them away from each other, so they didn't feel so connected. There was one scene in particular where I said 'You two have fun, let's turn on the camera and see what happens.' They were like school children. It was really great!"
Fan factor: Team Aniston still has tons of support. Some of the fans — mostly a young crowd dressed in UCLA T-shirts and hats, given that the premiere was held near the campus — came with poster board signs saying "We love Jennifer" written in glitter. Link...
