The ramp came alive with models sashaying down, diyas in hand. And then there was light. The dimly-lit ramp burst into a fully-blossomed Spring/Summer collection. It was tradition all the way for Neeta Lulla, as she mixed and matched bright colours in her saris and lehengas for KFW2, of which Gitanjali Lifestyle is the associate sponsor. The saris specially reminded one of Ash’s elaborate drape in Devdas.

The line, a range of meticulously crafted bridal garments, was done in georgettes, silks, nets and crepes. There was a riot of colours — emerald greens, Indian reds and rani pinks — well-teamed with rich embellishments. Neeta sure had the bridal market in mind while she was designing the line. The heavily-embroidered saris and lehengas with reds, oranges and pinks packed in one, drew loud rounds of applause.

Said Sameera about her gold-embellished gorgeous lehenga with choli and churni, “It’s a flamboyant outfit that doesn’t put much weight on the bride. I don’t believe in making a fashion statement with a particular kind of dressing. It’s mix ‘n’ match for me. I’m all for feminine dressing. I’m single now but when I plan to get married, I’m sure Neeta will make me the best bridal wear ever,” said Sameera.

What we liked: The regal ensembles were teamed with gorgeous jewellery and in some cases, even golden high heels.

Those who saw: “The mix of colours was really nice. The look was what we had seen in Devdas,” said Abhishek Dutta. Link...
