UAE humanitarian hospital treats over 2,000 in Sudan

United Arab Emirates' humanitarian hospital which was set up in Sudan late June has so far provided free treatment to over 2,000 patients in the African nation, WAM news agency reported Saturday.

The Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital, the first of its kind in the world, has been in operation for the past 40 days in the African country which is facing severe economic and health crisis.

The mobile hospital has recruited several specialist doctors from around the world to give the best medical facilities to the people of Sudan.

According to Juan Carlos Chachques, director of the hospital: 'It is a qualitative shift in the charity and humanitarian work launched by the UAE to assist the needy people.'

The super speciality hospital has a surgery theatre, intensive care unit, 25 beds, emergency and accident unit, first aid care unit and medical equipment sterilisation unit.

It also has a heart surgery and radiology centre besides several other units. Link...
