For maintaining a close liaison and quick response to any sort of problems caused to the traders in the federal capital the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to depute ‘Market Supervisors’, initially in all the major commercial centres/Marakiz to coordinate between the traders community and the authority.

CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi while addressing the traders on Tuesday during his visit to Markaz F-10, one of city’s snobbish shopping centre, said that these market supervisors would have a constant liaison with the representatives of the traders community in these commercial areas and Marakaz to resolve the problems or issues popping up, confronting the traders, from time to time.

“These market supervisors would help resolve the problems faced by the traders in their respective commercial areas and would also report the issues and problems of the traders to the Director Staff of the CDA chairman. Chairman Imtiaz himself is heading this Task Force,” the spokesman for the CDA, Syed Mustafain Kazmi said.

He said that these market supervisors would be appointed out of the existing staff of the authority and the officials between BS-11 to BS-14 would be selected to perform as market supervisors.

The chairman, while talking to the traders, said that these market supervisors would monitor and identify the problems being faced by the traders as well as the people visiting the place to the concerned formations of the CDA for quick response.

He said that the authority, being the civic body of the city, is keen to collaborate with the traders and the citizens for the development, upkeep and beautification of the federal capital.

“We (the CDA) are taking concrete measures for addressing the problems being faced by the traders community. But the traders are equally responsible for keeping the markets in a tidy condition and making Islamabad an environment friendly model city and for that they have to play a positive role,” Imtiaz told the traders.

He said that the authority is making all out efforts to resolve basic issues being faced by the traders and public alike, such as parking space, improving sanitation and hygiene conditions by maintaining cleanliness.

“The chairman also promised on the occasion that the CDA will set up a Dispensary in Markaz F-10 for welfare of the traders. Besides, a set of wash rooms/toilets are also being constructed in the posh shopping centre to facilitate general public as well as the traders,” the CDA spokesman said.

In response to the demands from the traders, the CDA chief also agreed to establish Community Centres in different areas of the city for the benefit of the traders’ community as well as common citizens.

He said that up-gradation, renovation, maintenance and modernisation of the ‘G’ and ‘I’-series sectors has become the priority of the CDA as these part of the federal capital have gone neglected for a long time during the previous successive regimes when the focus of development/improvement remained on ‘E’ and ‘F’-series sectors. However, he said that under the new scheme of things while the ‘G’ and ‘I’-series sectors would be receiving more attention, the ‘E’, and ‘F’-series sectors will not go neglected.

The chairman stressed that it was all the more essential to maintain and improve the ‘green areas’ in and around the commercial centres/Marakaz to preserve the natural face of Islamabad. Link...
