Bhubaneswar,Sept 23 The death toll due to suspected food-poisoning after consumption of toxic food stuff in remote Gudrigam village in Orissa's Kandhamal district rose to eleven with two more persons succumbing today even as the state government sent an expert team to probe the incident.
Two more persons from the village who had been admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment died today, taking the toll to 11 so far, official sources said.
While nine persons had died earlier, about 12 people are battling for life at the Daringbadi hospital after they fell ill following consumption of suspected toxic food stuff, including wild mushroom, six days ago.
Worried over the situation in the tribal-dominated district, the state government dispatched another team, including experts from the Regional Centre of Medical Research (RCMR) here, to ascertain the exact reason behind the deaths. Link...
